I appreciate the versatility and the challenge of the mosaic medium, as well as the meditative aspect of creating mosaic art – shaping or choosing the individual pieces and then laying them into place.  While working on a mosaic, I often create a story which emerges as the mosaic progresses.  I try to create relationships or conversations between the various elements of what I am making.  While I enjoy stretching or reshaping reality to match my vision, science and the natural world are often my starting point.  Nonetheless, I like ambiguity and enjoy the various reactions that my mosaics elicit from viewers.
