Rafael was born in Alicante, Spain. His grandfather was a known sculptor and his work influenced him since he was a little kid. Rafael came to United States for the first time when he was 19 with a full tennis scholarship. He graduated from Saint Mary's College (Moraga, CA) with a BA in Studio Arts. He then graduated from University of Nevada Reno (UNR) in an interdisciplinary MFA with focus in Drawing & Painting. He is currently the Program Coordinator at Feather River College in Quincy, CA. Rafael has been a studio artist for many years and has an extensive exhibition record both nationally and internationally. Lately, he has been transforming his studio background in order to create large scale mural paintings.
